ONE YEAR BIRTHDAY/CELEBRATION
Our meeting on Wednesday February 23rd marks the one year anniversary of our Food For Thought book club. However, we are going to take a slightly different spin on our anniversary party by thinking of it as Food For Thought's 1 Year Birthday!
I am not going to go into too much detail about what our celebration will entail because I want it to be a surprise for all of you. I can say that you will:
A. Have tons of fun
B. Have great conversation with wonderful people
C. Leave with a very full stomach
D. Love Food For Thought forever
I would like to extend a sincere thank you for our loyal and dedicated members who have gotten us to this point. We really appreciate you!
However, I will not keep secret what Doug and I envisioned for this month's cooking demonstration! Doug will be demonstrating how to make fried polenta with short rib ragu. This meeting is sure to be full of surprises and delicious food, don't miss out!

Giulia's Apartment!
Good Morning Fellow Foodies!
It has been awhile since I have blogged, probably because I have had my nose in our book. I finished the book early this week and I feel like I have gotten to know each man in her life very well. I'm curious to know which boyfriend was your favorite and which did you hate?
I found pictures of Giulia's apartment so I thought I would post the link. As much as this book was about her love life it was also about her love affair with her apartment. Perhaps these pictures will give you a visual for the setting :)

Kathleen Flinn is Coming!
Hi Everyone,
Good news! The author of The Sharper the Knife the Less You Cry has confirmed her visit in April! I know April is a long ways away, but in cases you are really excited (like me) you can read her bio below and visit her website She also has a very extensive and current blog that I would highly recommend taking a peak at.
I began my writing career after throwing a dart at a map when I was 17. It landed at Gary, Indiana. I drove north to Chicago where I started my writing career as a regular freelancer for the Chicago Sun-Times and interning at Playboy magazine. Following a couple of newspaper jobs, including one as a reporter for the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, I went on to edit Internet Underground, a national print magazine that was highly acclaimed for its originality and design; the L.A. Times referred to it as "Spy meets Wired."
In the mid-90s, I joined Microsoft as the founding restaurant producer for Sidewalk.com, the company's nationwide series of online city guides. When they were sold to Citysearch, I went to work for MSN in London, eventually heading up editorial for MSN.co.uk.
As I progressed up the corporate ladder, I spent less time writing, creating and producing. Instead, I spent more time working on budgets, managing stuff and doing reports. Urged on by my then boyfriend, Mike, I left Microsoft in December 2003 to pursue a lifelong dream of studying at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. I earned a diplome de cuisine from the school in 2005. You can read all about this in my memoir "The Sharper the Knife the Less You Cry." I'm at work on a second book now.
Over the years, in addition to being a journalist and corporate type, I have also held a number of odd jobs. At various times in my career, I have been employed as a magician's assistant, professional Tarot card reader, singing telegram messenger and stand-up comedian.
In 2004, I married Mike, a Renaissance type of guy who invents, designs and provides technical consulting in addition to flying small planes, driving fast motorcycles and jumping off mountains with a paragliding wing.Aside from her bio there are a ton of extras to look at on her website including writing and clips, recipes, FAQ. On the front page of her website she even said she is looking for recipe testers for her new book (Changing Courses)
